Mikogo brings online conferences to Skype with its collaboration and screen sharing tool. This should come as competition for established services like WebEx and GoToMeeting, as recently more and more services are popping up offering different features & pricing options. To stay afloat tough competition Mikogo introduces it’s Skype extension allowing Skype users to be able to talk (sometimes for free) and through its collaboration tool, participate in online meetings and conferences.
As Skype offers free calls between its service, along with multiple extras (ad-ons), Mikogo is a fine addition to its tally, bringing something of a uniqueness to Skype as it is the first web conferencing solutions in the (Skype) extras. Mikogo’s desktop application doesn’t require users to create an account, and hence saw 50,000 users installing the service. Yet the good thing about this integration in Skype is that the service is accessible for free, whereas GoToMeeting comes with a price.
