‘NORBITS’(norbits.net), a Norway based BitTorrent tracker has been offline for several days due to an attack of DDoS. Such attacks are common on BitTorrent trackers. The site has been hacked by a group called ‘MORRADi’. The group has claimed the responsibility of DDoS attack. The hackers, in a message, said that they don’t like the idea of P2P. Furthermore they have also threatened the site to publish their user database online. Even if they do publish it, will it be of any use? I guess not, because it is very difficult to identify the authenticity of such information.
Though they have threatened to publish user information, it is yet to be known that the hackers contain all the IPs, username and rest of the information. The group further says that they will continue to attack tracker sites. This is not the first time such attack has happened on a BitTorrent tracker. The beginning of the current year saw IP addresses of seedboxes leaked out on BitTorrent.

Btw, “MORRADi” is norwegian and means something similar to YOMOMMA or YOURMOM. This indicates relatively young people, and they’re not usually opposed to P2P :/ Actually it’s really surprising that they know enough to hack this site, yet don’t see how stupid it is to go against an entire technology for sharing information and files, just because it has illegal applications.
