When Nick Denton showed his concerns of massive drops in ad revenues we thought there’s no standing up for Gawker Media. But the current turnout reads a different story altogether with ad revenue climbing to 39%. Nick says he owes 20% of that revenue for putting Google ads to search results for each site and the rest comes from more sponsored posts and bigger ads. He said:
High-end sites need to run bigger and richer ads — the same way that glossy magazines run gorgeous spreads.
But despite all that, Gawker Media laid off another three writers along with an assistant editor from Jezebel, Gizmodo and Gawker.com. A bad news for each one of those when they would have been anticipating themselves to be secure.
