If you are a NewYorker and you purchase items from the internet, you must be paying taxes on online purchasing. And to add more taxes on your shoulders, governor David Paterson is considering a 4% tax on music and other digital media downloads as well.
This is just the start, as the governor is also proposing to raise taxes to be put up on basic commodities such as soda, cable and satellite TV, gas, cigars, beer and sports/movie tickets to cut government costs in this time of recession.
But in my honest opinion, these taxes are not going to be popular and if applied, a decline in music and digital purchases would be resulted.
