Navigaya: Experience everything here

Sardar Mohkim Khan

navigaya1 Navigaya: Experience everything hereNavigaya; the name sort of had me thinking of it to be yet another online 3-D platform but the moment I had the site up and running in my browser I was impressed; firstly because it wasn’t yet another online 3-D world and secondly and more importantly that it’s a search engine with a neat and impressive layout. Is that all you need to watch for in a service? Not exactly, but the things should impress a user enough to have him proceed further and explore it.

What makes Navigaya stand out is nothing but pure creativity and an amalgamation of the various search engines from Google the giant to the shout more and do less Cuil. It offers users to access a wide variety of online services directly through its interface. We have been reviewing services that bring together services, like account management and sharing platforms etc, but the problem with them is that they are confined to a single category and this is where Navigaya gets its universal tag.

It’s not that the search engines are set by default, users can select from where and via what engine the results are directed to the user. The result display can be customized, that is a user can view the results in various engines in one window to four at a time; doesn’t that make it easy, viewing search results across four engines simultaneously?

To me Navigaya appears more to be an in-browser operating system, dedicated to providing an interface for all the search and queries users have. So it works more like a multi search cum recommendation engine if I were to say, based on the various categories it has to assist users at getting the information they are looking for. And then we have the added advantage of having to hear and watch videos of songs powered by YouTube. Users can browse through an auto generated playlist or search for artists and drag results to add them to the list already being played. However in order to save your list etc, users have to login with  their accounts for the service.

It has got so much to offer even though it’s still in the beta and it reminds me how it has smoothly come up without honking horns and Navigaya puts up something to boast about, I mean what could be better than having an OS within a browser dedicated to put away the task of opening multiple windows for search, accessing emails to logging onto social networks. Those are but a few services that Navigaya makes possible to navigate through, salute to the developers for putting their heads to give in such a service.

Navigaya is supported by Firefox, Explorer and Safari browsers and news has it that Google is gearing up to work upon a similar platform. Tough times ahead but should Navigaya be bothered? It shouldn’t be at all as it has made to claims to beat or overcome some giant and it would most definitely not get ‘it is crap’ review as Cuil did.

Oh there is one thing that might just keep the user experience on the low side and it’s the speed of the internet, I experienced some downtime with my services and it got me irritated. but that doesn’t take the credit away from the service, my ratings are 8 out of ten for this.

I stumbled on this a second ago and it pissed me off. For one thing, the Linux flash plugin is still slow as **, so I can’t handle fullscreen video on my Core 2 Duo [What the hell is Adobe doing over there??] Also, I couldn’t figure out how to close it for a while.

And, worst of all, it sucks and is stupid.

  2. Imran Hussain Says:

How can you blame Navigaya for this? If the flash pugin is slow, that is Adobe’s fault isn’t it ? Grow up kid.

  3. Sardar Mohkim Khan Says:

Hover to the top left corner of the window and the ‘player slides down’ i hope you can see PAUSE, there. By the way you can take your candy coat off if you are so pissed at Navigaya sucking you bad.

    Best Regards,
