MySpace CEO Chris DeWolfe replied to a question asked to him at the Web 2.0 conference, that if MySpace Music planned to, would it build a digital music player to rival the iPod? To which DeWolfe replied, “It’s possible.” But before stopping short of creating a mis-communication, he said: "Right now, we’re just focusing on the service." MySpace Music though has the full attention lately as it has grabbed some good sponsors (McDonald’s, Sony Pictures, Toyota, & State Farm) as well as gathering attention from visitors: music was streamed from the site more than 1 billion times in the first few days, while also people created 80 million playlists since the launch. Another fact: A romping five million bands upload their music to the site.
