MeGlobe is a multi-language instant messenger which lets users from various language backgrounds to chat with each other. We reviewed the startup couple of months ago. The idea of providing the instant messenger in various languages is great as it is innovative. Though the idea was great, we pointed out some flaws in the website, most of them are now fixed.
Earlier you couldn’t update snap on your profile, now you can do it easily and the best thing about it is that the snap is uploaded instantly. The size of the photo which can be uploaded is 100 kb. Google AdSense which were appearing at the bottom of the site, have been removed and now the messenger is more visible. A drop-down menu, which we suggested earlier, has been added in the searching section making it more feasible.
Moreover you can easily invite friends and give your feedback. Machine translation is not always helpful so the startup is emphasizing on Human-2-human (H2H) interaction which means involving as much users in the process of translation as possible. If you observe a word/sentence not well translated, you can let the team know about it by editing the translation. This will help enhance the knowledge base of the system.
We also suggested that the user should be able to translate from all supported languages, and not just the default language; this option is now made available which is cool. The languages supported in the the messenger include English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Deutsch, Japanese, Russian, Nederlands, Greek, Korean, Arabic, Swedish and Chinese (Simplified & Traditional).
MeGlobe Rooms are also available now. These rooms include Language Exchange, Meet New People, Movies, Music, Politics, Sorts, Travel, TV and Video Games.
These are the improvements made on the site in the last couple of months. Though the site has improved, there is always a margin of improvement. If you resize the page to half, you don’t get any scroll option and hence can’t access the stuff appearing at the bottom of the page. This happens even when the messenger (other application) is running. Another thing which we pointed out earlier was that the version of the application, which appears on the left bottom of the site, sticks there even when the window is resized. It override the other stuff appearing on the site. Have a look at the screen shot below to understand better.
This issue can be easily resolved by providing a simple scroll. Also the option of customizable status should be available so that users can update their status according to their desire.
Overall these improvements are certainly cool and it shows that the startup is heading towards the right direction. I had a word with a few users and they all were optimistic. We hope to see MeGlobe improve and wish them all the best.
