When going open is the word across the web then New York Times got to give in big for the countless Internet users it has. And today its the entire movie archive, having more than 22,000 movies since 1924. This would enable outside developers to associate their reviews and sort them using the Movie Review API.
This would be greatly helpful as various services can utilize the reviews posted on movies, be they on any date and link them to their listings. Although the current step wont fill in NYT’s treasure box with cash, but it ill prove helpful over time. Why waste those precious reviews from history when you can have them monetized the open way?
