Motorola saw sales go down by more than 30 percent from last year, leaving it with 8.4 percent market share. The third largest handset manufacturer. The company’s plans for its own line of Android sets hooked on social networking, as it hopes to launch by next year’s holiday season; changing its previous plans of launching in the second quarter or 2009. And as Motorola has announced to go through with 3,000 lay offs (5,000 rumored) over the next two quarters, the company hopes to concentrate fully on regaining its market share through a new range of phone sets, as its competitors have done.
