The usage of motion sensors by Apple’s iPhone, iPod Touch and Nintendo’s Wii has increased the demand of motion sensors. Now everyone wants the motion sensors in their device for gaming control, widescreen web browser display, photos, etc. This is certainly a good news for the makers of these accelerometers like STMicroelectronics, Bosch, Analog Devices, and Kionix.
According to iSuppli, a research firm, out of 1.3 billion mobile devices shipped this year, 10% contains the motion sensors which is five times higher than last year. Also the firm expects that the accelerometer shipments would reach 900 million units by 2012.
