The upcoming Office Web Applications of the Microsoft will let users work on the spreadsheet, presentations and Word documents via browser.  The users will be able to create and edit documents as long as their internet is working. According to Chris Capossela, Microsoft’s senior vice president, the browser based versions will not work offline at least in the initial stages.

In the first generation we are certainly looking at having them be connected.

For offline usage of course the Office suite is incredibly powerful.
