Microsoft is trying its best to make the Office 2010 a big one, given all the hype they have created. They have got the Office 2010: The Movie and recently announced releasing its product to thousands of beta testers in July. The technical preview will be rolled out to invited testers across the globe and will include the Office 2010 Client and Web Applications. There isn’t much mentioned about the features of the release but it does state the basic requirements. These requirements include:

  • Office 2010 will be available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
  • Office 2010 will run on Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
  • You don’t need to replace hardware that is capable of running 2007, it will support Office 2010.  Like Windows 7 has demonstrated, we realize that taking advantage of the hardware you already own is just as important as supporting all the new technology coming out.

You can sign up here to be on the waiting list of testers. I am pretty pleased that Microsoft has paid attention to the issue of making the Office 2010 compatible with the very basic of systems and users won’t be pushed to upgrade their hardware to take advantage of the new release. I guess they have had senses knocked into them after the success Windows 7 has achieved with the same.
