Redmond based software giant Microsoft, has announced that the company will layoff 5,000 employees in the next year and a half. The current announcement is part of the second quarter report which was announced earlier today. Jobs from various departments will be cut including research and development, marketing, sales, finance, legal, human resources, and IT. In the first round of layoffs the company will fire 1,400 employees today, mostly from the headquarter.
The company earned a revenue of $16.63 billion in the second quarter which is 2% more than the Q2 last year. On the other hand, the client revenue went down 8%.
