Looks like Microsoft hasn’t given up laying off the projected number it rolled out earlier this year. It had already laid off around 1,500 employees and reports state that an additional 3,600 layoffs may take place over the next year and a half or so. But that’s just not it, Microsoft plans to add an additional 3,000 jobs in areas of search. Plus it has also launched a dedicated skill development program for the unemployed that would help people learn basic tech skills. Now this one’s good as Microsoft will be giving away as many as a million vouchers for courses and examinations. Although these are for Microsoft’s own products I won’t put this initiative down, given that it fills the larger purpose.
