Remember the Surface Computer? Yeah the same one with multitouch computing capability that Microsoft announced last year. Now the brains from Microsoft Research introduced in the PDC a technology called SecondLight.
SecondLight is a variation on the Microsoft Surface computer, the twist is that it can actually project a second image through the first image, which can land on a sheet of paper, a plastic sheet, or anything else semi-transparent that you want to use as a make shift secondary (or third, fourth, fifth) display. Those displays can also have their own multitouch capabilities in the air. WOW now that’s fantastic. I could make my paper touchable now!!!
So what does this mean? It means a doctor can use a sheet of paper to dynamically ‘cut through’ a 3D MRI, or you could even scoop up windows on a surface computer and then interact with them on this lightweight display without altering the original Surface image.
Here is an original channel 10 video showing of the capabilities of SecondLight…
Will SecondLight change our computing experience? Post your comments…

OMG, probably the coolest thing I’ve seen out of microsoft since LiveMesh - that’s awesome. Makes me feel like hologram technology is really here.
Absolutely right Mitchell, yeah it feels as if the hologram technology will also be responsive to the touch, and well I think this will definitely be much cooler than touching the surface computer itself.
I am just imagining my self touching the air
