Microsoft has almost succeeded in pickpocketing the Verizon Wireless Search Deal from Google. Microsoft has been able to do so by offering better terms such as $550 million to $650million of guaranteed payments to Verizon over a five year period, roughly twice as much as Google was offering.

In addition to the Search Deal Microsoft also wants to have Verizon Devices ship with Windows Mobile software. WSJ is estimating the combined value of the deal to top $1 billion.
