Microsoft has been on the hunt for the right person to head its online properties ever since it was split and the departure of Kevin Johnson, but has failed thus far. Presently Microsoft has currently moved its long time executive, Yusuf Mehdi to be a part of Microsoft’s online audience business development and management for MSN.
he had previously been the SVP for strategic partnerships under Kevin Johnson and will now be a part of a three man team that also includes Bran McAndrews, SVP for advertiser and publisher solutions group and Satya Nadella, SVP Microsoft’s search, portal and advertising platform group.
It is still in shadows as to who is going to head the new service but chances are quite slim for Satya Nadella and the fight’s going to be between Yusuf and McAndrews as both off them deserve the spot given their years at Microsoft. As for the current shot, Mehdi will now be a part of the SVP, Bill Veghte’s portfolio and focus at leading Windows and Windows Live.
