Germany is taking its traffic control systems to be powered by Linux and real time JAVA. The traffic management systems will reportedly provide better traffic control and fulfill critical safety requirements. Signalbau Huber, Germany’s second traffic management system vendor will switch over from its Actros controller to Aonix PERC real time Java. Joachim Lock, R&D engineer stated:

The migration will enable us to move from several different CPUs to one CPU, [while] keeping security-critical functions and Linux separated

The Linux component will provide a browser-based management interface accessible over the network or to on-site technicians. The real-time PikeOS environment, meanwhile, will host Aonix’s PERC real-time Java component.
