It’s all about web powered apps these days’ on social engineered websites. Be it Facebook which launched the trend, be it orkut or for now be it LinkedIn.
LinkedIn being a social connector which links professionals to other professionals and companies for job hunts, references, projects and other professional services, ha now comes up with it’s own OpenSocial-powered apps platform,
Unlike Facebook, LinkedIn apps specifically remain focused on helping members enhance their professional profile, as well as collaborate on work projects and become productive.
As co-founder Reid Hoffman explains:
This initial roll out features productivity applications that range from gathering information that professionals around you are generating to enhancing your abilities to collaborate and communicate more effectively. You’ll be able to work much more closely with your contacts on LinkedIn with tools such as file sharing, project management, business trips and many more.
You can now install apps on your home page, monitor feeds and instantiate updates within your profile and share with your peers, knowledge or announcements. The apps currently available full into two camps: those that help to enhance a user’s profile - resume 2.0 - and those that provide functionality for better collaboration with members of your network.
I definitely think, the app showing Amazon Books purchase for my peers, based on the books I have read is the best app I have experienced, enabling a social-marketing aspect as well. What do you think is Linked In more better with these enhancements or not?
