Facebook is under fire, again, as Leader Technologies discovered that the social network is infringing on a patent it obtained in 2002. The company based in Columbus Ohio, is a provider of web-based enterprise software for groups, and in a press release stated that it has already filed suit in Delaware. Though in the wake of this claim it is noted that the case seems pretty weak. The company’s service is questioning Facebook’s right to offer the same technology that it has a patent for, maybe because Facebook is a social utility, and not just a social network. Otherwise Leader Technologies outcry would go waste as all the other hundreds of enterprise companies that offer the same features would be infringing their patent.
