fig 1 thumb Landmine clearing task made easier with MCC’s new technology

A Canadian company known as Mine Clearing Corp (MCC) has brought forth the latest in radiometry technology to search out landmines from the air. MCC acquired license for the technology which makes it easier to locate and map landmines, and which works three times faster from the air – available at half the price of ordinary means of detection.

It’s an estimate that a 100 million landmines are still scattered around parts of 80 countries – these estimates, taken by the UN, show that a landmine take a person’s life every 20 minutes. The technology would vastly change the clean-up effort and cut down on spending. Developed by Roke Manor Research Ltd; MD of the company, David Smith states:

We are confident that this licensing agreement will allow us to bring practical low cost mine clearance to those countries where abandoned mines continue to wreak a terrible cost on human life.
