KingsIsle Entertainment is short of announcing a change in their alternative payment system for Wizard101, its online game based on micro-transactions. The massively multiplayer online (MMO) role-playing game had a $9.95 a month subscription fee, or a $6.95 a month per family member attached to it. But since its target market of teens and adults asked for otherwise, the company was quick to respond, changing the pricing method and making one section of the game free to pay. Unlocking more zones, or regions will require players to pay a dollar. Players can purchase an in-game currency titled as ‘Crowns’, and unlock the zones, etc.
Chief Executive, KingsIsle – Elie Akilian states:
“We looked at our feedback and found that half the people liked subscriptions and another group wanted micro-transactions.”

That’s cool KingsIsle responded so quickly to the market. I like that they’re gonna offer parts of the games as freebies…probably get more people interested.
Haven’t played this yet, but now I think I will.

Well i am a member of wizard101 and i believe that it is very frustrating to try and level up or continue quests with out having unlimited access or “crowns”. My parents will not buy me anything for this game and many members of wizard101 feel this way. Please Please PLEASE try and have free access to everyone. If not, many members, including myself, are looking for other free games like this one. Please, have a heart!
