Being a teacher or a student in this technological era, requires much more than traditional way’s of learning and collaborating. The internet being a resource, can, will and has brought about a vast change how we learn.
Well a new startup called www.classtell.com revolutionizes how the academia collaborates, providing a classroom type environment – such as a homework page, contact field, calendar, and perhaps even a grade report to be privately or publicly accessible, this being a service that you might be looking for.
Focusing more on functionality rather than glitter, the site focuses on providing rich features to users such to manage classroom activities, creating topic specific related pages e.g that of a chemistry experiment, making calendar’s and planning cum sharing curriculum activities. Placement of images, files, text, documents is a simple synch as well pertaining to your likelihood of each course.
The site gives a 90 day trial after which with a nominal fee $20CAD per year is charged, giving you 1Gig of space for your files and unlimited websites. And the good part is that this startup is not money hungry, giving discounts to schools and boards.
The SITE is However FREE for Students and Parents.
The good part is about collaboration, like for suppose your school plans a field trip, so you can write a blog post about it is well and also incorporate maps into the post, giving it a web 2.0 style.
The editor is quite simple to use and quite frankly powerful and nifty enough fro any heavy class HTML developer. Classtell really is nice way for teachers students and parents to collaborate and manage their workflows. Quite a good effort by the classtell team, and certainly if more features and glitter could be added, it could really turn into a premium service of use for the academia, such as video streaming and podcasting lectures etc.
As for now, such a low cost service is rather powerful and capable.I would rate it 7.5/10. What’s you say? Leave your comments…
