Iran has blocked Facebook and Youtube and more than 5 million other websites on account of immoral and anti-social content. Abdolsamad Khoram Abadi, an advisor to Iran’s prosecutor general has said that "The enemies seek to assault our religious identity by exploiting the Internet."

One of Iran’s conservative publication Sobh e Sadegh also considers search engines Yahoo and Google, BBC and CNN televisions and even international news agencies including "Reuters, Associated Press, UPI, AFP and DPA" operated as "tools of diplomacy conducted through media."
