As sales are going sky-high and the momentum isn’t slowing down, one month after it’s launch, Apple’s iPhone sales have hit the 3 million mark. Forecasts had predicted a total quarterly sales of 3 million – 4 million, and yet the iPhone has broken past all barriers.
The new iPhone sales broke the record of the previous version that took 74 days to reach sales of 1 million. Seems like the half-cut in price ($199) worked wonders for the new iPhone (excluding the $2,400 wireless subscription costs for 2 years).
Where the touch screens are a hot selling item lately, International sales in 22 countries has done a lot to boost sales, with Apple boasting to reach 20 more by Aug 22, and with a target of 70 countries till the year end – the original iPhone being sold in only 4 countries.
On the other hand with this many outlets popping up, Apple will have a challenge on its hand, keeping supplies of its outlets flowing. Due to increase in demand, it may hit the outlets opening in new countries. But surely, not the worst problem Apple could tackle.
