iPhone gets full screen web apps

How is this going to help? Well think of your applications running free, without the Safari cage around them. Plus it also removes the nagging toolbar the user has to bear with every time an application is run. That doesn’t mean your apps get Safari independent, all the apps would still run in the Safari but without the obvious menus (a.k.a toolbar) draining the fun out of your app.

A reader at AppleInsider brought the news to light stating:

One unpublicized feature introduced by Apple’s latest iPhone software updates is the ability save Web Apps to the home screen and have them launch in full-screen mode without the Safari wrapper, essentially mimicking the experience of a native app.

Chances are that the application may perform slower than the usual apps one gets from the App Store, but hey you’ve got to lose some to get some. To me it’s a much needed update for the browser showing itself with my favourite application drives me nuts.
