Since the launch of iPhone 3G and the App Store a month ago, Apple has recorded a sale of, roughly $2M worth of iPhone apps every day. 60 Million downloaded apps have been through the Application store, most of them being freebies. Last month, the App store turned over $30M of which 70% went to the developers, whereas Apple kept 30% (As reported earlier in Apple’s App Store minting cash). If sales keep up like this Apple stands to clear at least $360M an year.
Apple had earlier reported that 10 million apps were downloaded in the first three days after its launch.
Apple has all rights on which app stay on the shelves, as the only way to download an application onto an iPhone or iPod Touch is through the iTunes.
Apple has also whipped up a reputation to remove applications that they think aren’t that great, making a bad reputation amongst developers. For example, the BoxOffice app and the Slasher app - due to some graphic materials.
Although if this continues Apple will be suffocating developers and who knows, the users might be the end losers. This isn’t that bad though, as an upper hand has to be there to control the removal of malicious applications. If you trust Apple blindly, then this won’t be such a bother, on the other hand though, it might be of concern that the deletion is going on without any proper rules and whether Apple wants to show dictatorship amongst developers.

Let me just say that I hate iTunes.
I do not own an iPhone, but I do own an iPod. I love the iPod itself but my biggest gripe, as with everyone else I have spoken with who owns an iPod the iTunes software is just terrible.
I understand they want to keep the recording industry happy with their software but please, it’s garbage.
Personally I would take many a nokie over an iPhone. iPhones really are not that impressive and the media hype around them is just strange. Probably because the media backs the recording industry since they are almost the same.
Personally I would rather wait for more user-friendly competitors of the iPhone to emerge.
Thanks for your opinion. I must agree, Apple should improve further in that field.
I think few competitors have popped up in the recent past, you should look into those, such as LG, Samsung, etc.
