We have seen how big a success the new iPhone has turned out to be and more importantly the applications that have been build for it have fared far better than anything else in the tech world this season. Last month Steve jobs talked about the App Store minting cash and according to reports these applications have been downloaded by over a 100 million users already.
What Steve Jobs predicts here is that if the current rate of sell out maintains the apps may very well cross the 1 billion mark and out number the highest number of downloads for anything so far in the shortest span.
But isn’t it a bit harsh to narrow this and think of the number of downloads to hover where they are at present? What I see here is that the 1 billion mark can be achieved much sooner, given that in August alone over 70 million apps had been downloaded.
With over 12 million apps available, users have plenty to take a bite from and this is something that has triggered a marathon of downloads for these apps that exceeds the number of songs downloaded from the store by a factor of two. With so many predictions coming up from everyone Apple continues to remain quite, but they sure will be counting the numbers and watching the time it takes to hit 1 billion mark.
