With an estimated 40 million iPhone 3G that Apple eyes at selling in a year and most probably surpassing Nintendo’s record of 42 million in 18 months, the iPhone is set to become the leader in the gaming arena as well. The biggest advantage that the iPhone enjoys comes from the plethora of both free games and those that cost less than $10 a piece.
This is cheaper and offers more choice to users compared to the $20 to $40 dollar price range for Nintendo DS games and the $10 to $40 price of the PSP games. What I think is that the availability of these games via the App Store and ready to download feature sets the iPhone apart that grabs in 6% of the owners time by engaging them in gaming. I guess its not just the smartphone market the iPhone is giving its competitors a tough time, but is also rising fast in the gaming side as a worthy competitor. Beware PSP and Nintendo!
