IntenseDebate is now Automattic’s

image-thumb253 IntenseDebate is now Automattic’sIntenseDebate, an enhanced commenting system that improves dialogues within the comments section by enabling users to directly respond to individual comments has been acquired by Automattic. The amount for this acquisition is not yet disclosed but Automattic has for sure given Wordpress (its product) a much needed update for the comments.

Most of IntenseDebate’s features will be made available by default in the next version  of Wordpress along with additional features like commenting across various blogs. The purpose to acquire IntenseDebate has been Wordpress’ bid to improve its own commenting system and according to its CEO IntenseDebate provided the most suitable platform.

With this deal up, IntenseDebate would go back into its private beta phase to smoothen the transition. Current users wont be affected and they’ll only need an invite code once the site is out of private beta. The deal would also let IntenseDebate remain a separate service and will be fully integrated with Wordpress. The deal will also have no affect on it being available for other platforms that include Typepad, Tumblr, etc.

I look forward to this system make commenting in Wordpress much more interactive and better.
