Intel Corporation’s global investment organization has taken up another jump at investing in Indian online services, namely Yatra an online travel portal, BuzzInTown, a social networking site and Emnet Samsara Media Pvt. Ltd.
The over all investment sums to around $17 million and is directly generated form the $250 million Intel Capital India Technology fund. Arvind Sodhani, President of Intel Capital and Intel executive Vice President added:
Since starting in India in 1998, Intel Capital has invested in approximately fifty companies across eight cities. Intel Capital places a great deal of importance on encouraging entrepreneurship and technology innovation in India and our latest investments in Yatra.com, BuzzInTown.com and Emnet Samsara are proof of that.
Yatra is an online travel portal that provides information pricing and booking facility for air travel, hotels, buses and car rentals across 5000 large cities and small rural areas around the globe. Along with room-booking facility in over 2,500 domestic hotels across 250 destinations in India, it also has international tie-ups with major consolidators for over 90,000 hotels across the world.
BuzzInTown is a premier Internet portal dedicated to the promotion of Events and Entertainment in India, with presence in 10 cities.
The latest funding reveal that how important the Web-space in India is for investors, this could primarily be due to the population that can be targeted to generate profits from the investments the bulk of talent readily available to capitalise on such investments. Over all such investments tend to improve the web industry in the most efficient manner.
