Screen Digest, a digital media research firm, is predicting that Hulu will be catch up on Youtube in terms of revenues by next year, this tells alot about the success of the monetization efforts being undertaken at Youtube. According to Screen Digest both Hulu and Youtube will make $180 million in 2009, one caveat here is that the research firm might be estimating Hulu’s gross revenue which has a large component (70%-80%) set aside for the content providers. So in actual terms Hulu might just be making $36-$54 million in 2009, compared to Youtube’s $180 million. Nevertheless, it is a revealing prediction.
