Hulu the video streaming website, recently launched in March is already making inroads and went past Time Warner’s (TWX) property’s CNN and Turner Networks, although just a fraction behind Disney’s ESPN.
According to a stats update by Nielsen, Fox and NBC racked up about 105 million video streams in July – an advancement from their 80 mil streams in May.
Hulu might have gained lead and become the 8th largest video site in the U.S. but it still has a globe to travel as compared to Google’s giant. Hulu grabbed just 2% of YouTube’s traffic last month – YouTube being no.1 in the business.
There’s no doubt Hulu’s quick growth is credit to Viacom Shows like The Daily Show and Colbert Report, which were added in June, and regularly grasp a significant percentage of the most-viewed TV episodes on the site. Along with promotion from its JV partners Fox and NBC.
