Not many are patient enough to wait for things to come to them, they would gladly rush into things. I am one example, I have the HTC Desire running Android 2.1 and I am impatient for a better method on how to install Froyo on Desire. However there is some good news for Droid Incredible users as Verizon is pushing the manual update for the Froyo.
Need I be informing you that this needs to be done at your own risk and I will not be responsible for anything wrong that happens. The procedures are simple and can be implemented by anyone who has tried manual installs of mobile operating systems earlier.
Steps For Powering Your Droid Incredible With Froyo
- Get the Android v2.2 for the Droid Incredible [link]
- Change the name of the File to update.zip
- Copy it to the root of your SD card.
- Switch off your Droid Incredible
- Switch it back on but holding down the Volume key
- This would open a boot menu on your device and you can move down to the recovery option and select it by pressing the Power button.
- This would display a triangle with an Exclamation Mark. Simultaneously press the Power and the Volume Up button to open a menu.
- In the options available select the “sdcard:update.zip” which you copied in the first step on your card.
- Once the installation bit is complete, restart your Droid Incredible running on Android 2.2
