NBC, Fox and CBS each switched to digital only TV in the Chico and Redding areas of Northern California, forcing residents to get their hands on converters. There weren’t any problems except for households hadn’t yet got converters for their devices. The U.S government has offered $60 converter box with coupons that took $40 off the price. But the issue is those take 30 days to reach users and are valid for three months. I guess what the above stations have done is to let people know that it’s really necessary to have these, well before February 17, which is the deadline before every station goes digital.
