Hitwise came out with some stats to show how Election Day mattered and brought the top news sites their traffic. CNN was ranked on the top, as it saw a 146 percent spike in traffic, whereas MSNBC.com, Fox News, and the Drudge report all witnessed quite an increase as well. ABCNews.com saw traffic go up by 113 percent over the day before, which was quite a decent tally. CNN Political Ticker blog also saw a 122 percent rise, where Twitter traffic also rose 43 percent, and Twitter Election 2008 saw a walloping 1,100 percent increase. Though where some witnessed traffic going up, some had the bad luck of recording the day’s traffic as going down: Time.com –21%, Current TV –53%, and Slate –33%.
