WebHealthCentre, an online portal for medical consultations, healthcare information and telemedicine, is being planned for commercialization by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) an Indian IT services company, .

The WebHealthCentre was released by TATA in 2000 for the purpose of providing remote telemedicine services.

We realized that there was a gap for this kind of service even abroad, as we got more queries from abroad than from India, said Debashis Ghosh, vice president and head of TCS’ life sciences and healthcare practice.

Patients can store medical records online and share securely with doctors. Now patients in small hospitals and healthcare centers in remote locations coan take absolute advantage of it. TATA is planning to now earn immediate revenues from advertising on the portal which is used by patients in 16 countries, including India, the U.S., Canada and the U.K along with giving pharmaceutical companies access to do surveys and find “Testing patients” for their products.

The website has a large user base and via this model it’s for sure that a good healthy amount of money can be earned successfully…
