We all know that technology has definitely changed our lives, and the era of tele and online medicine practicing is just growing. Taking that into mind, the state government of Hawaii has launched an online portal allowing residents to access doctor services at flat rates.
Residents can chat with a doctor over a standard Web browser (IE 7 or Firefox 2) or carry out their visit over the telephone. The portal also supports video technology and live streaming fro patients with Cams.
If you enjoy medical benefits from HSMA, you only pay $10 for the 10 minute consultation, while the normal charge is $45 for the same amount of time.
A Senate working group is scheduled to hold hearings Thursday on the topic, with Microsoft Vice President Peter Neupert among those offering testimony. The state government is working along with Microsoft, whose HealthVault system is supported to allow patients to maintain their own health care records, that being an integral part of the portal itself.
I believe that, the system is good for primary health cure situations, but definitely should not be considered for emergencies.
