It hasn’t been long since the shut down of Scrabulous from Facebook, when its replacement, Scrabble reportedly gets hunt down by a ‘malicious attack’. The Scrabulousers might not have been hurt much when Scrabulous was taken away as they thought of having Scrabble to take its place but all they found was that the new one didn’t work.
The creators of the game for Hasbro; Electronic Arts wee quick to come out with a pretty amusing reason that al this is due to some invasion from a hacker; rendering the game unplayable for most of the hours after its launch (as reported by the LA Times). The company said:
EA’s Scrabble Facebook game experienced a malicious attack this morning, resulting in the disabling of Scrabble on Facebook.
Now who could have so much time to spare and hack something that would give no benefit; save for its competitors? And even if that is so why wouldn’t Scrabulous put a up a claim within the circles of law to save themselves up? Pretty confusing as the present matter does nothing but lends another blow to its already suffering public relations.
The entire accusation and filing of the lawsuit along with the immediate shutdown of Scrabulous definitely did the damage to the plans Hasbro might have had; one of the major being a steady transition of Scrabulous users over to Scrabble. Then when you make such a drastic change you ought to bring out something that’s worth what has been replaced. The user feedback had disappointment written all over it as one of the commentator said:
At least get things ironed out here before taking away Scrabulous!
That is exactly what you got to do when you know your target are the people who want quality instead of lawsuits and replacements; that are not worth the time and energy.
