‘Hackers killed Scrabble!’: Scrabble down on Facebook

It hasn’t been long since the shut down of Scrabulous from Facebook, when its replacement, Scrabble reportedly gets hunt down by a ‘malicious attack’. The Scrabulousers might not have been hurt much when Scrabulous was taken away as they thought of having Scrabble to take its place but all they found was that the new one didn’t work.

The creators of the game for Hasbro; Electronic Arts wee quick to come out with a pretty amusing reason that al this is due to some invasion from a hacker; rendering the game unplayable for most of the hours after its launch (as reported by the LA Times). The company said:

EA’s Scrabble Facebook game experienced a malicious attack this morning, resulting in the disabling of Scrabble on Facebook.

Now who could have so much time to spare and hack something that would give no benefit; save for its competitors? And even if that is so why wouldn’t Scrabulous put a up a claim within the circles of law to save themselves up? Pretty confusing as the present matter does nothing but lends another blow to its already suffering public relations.

The entire accusation and filing of the lawsuit along with the immediate shutdown of Scrabulous definitely did the damage to the plans Hasbro might have had; one of the major being a steady transition of Scrabulous users over to Scrabble. Then when you make such a drastic change you ought to bring out something that’s worth what has been replaced. The user feedback had disappointment written all over it as one of the commentator said:

At least get things ironed out here before taking away Scrabulous!

That is exactly what you got to do when you know your target are the people who want quality instead of lawsuits and replacements; that are not worth the time and energy.

No, Scrabble killed Scrabble. This is ridiculous. And Damit!!, not all hackers are bad, use the freakin’ word criminal. Crackers are worse then hackers.

A breeder can be called a hacker (putting to animals together to see what you get).

    LOL seems some thing fishy..

@thecolor; I can understand the level of despair false accusations can inflict, but hey that’s what the brainless comment from E.A said. Plus we weren’t plannign in to mix out some ‘tech-jargon’. Any way you can go on and coment at Hasbro and EA at what they have done and said (as many have already). Direct your wrath where it can burn the right targets.

@BlogsDNA; yeah and its burning bad

Sardar Mohkim Khan and all, I’m sorry if I offended anyone, that was not my intent. I simply wanted to express frustration for improperly used phrases and words that make others look bad. Sadly, my many attempts in the past at expressing similar dissatisfaction mean nothing and are simply disregarded at the companies they are intended for. Thusly, I typically just state the feeling wherever I see a report, in hopes it will be a bit more noticed wide spread rather than just deleted or dismissed by the originator(s).

Feel free to remove my comment(s), as I don’t want to make anyone upset or imply in any way that those at startupmeme see hackers as the criminal, etc.

Thanks for pointing out the concern

The Color, you didn’t offend me or anyone at Startup Meme (you have my words on it), and if you read my comment i duly understand and acknowledge what you actually wanted to point out here.

We here understand that treating every one by the same stick isn’t the most appropriate way, but we had to report what had been said. I would therefore apologize for offending you on behalf of myself and Startup Meme. I would have gladly removed the word from my post but that’s something i can’t do now as it would have certain things get complicated (with perma links etc). Hope you understand this and continue your visits here, more frequently.

    Best Regards,
