It appears that almost everything related to Search is rapidly being gobbled by Google and company. Be it core search that Google masters with a mammoth 70% share or now the expanded search, that YouTube dominates beating Yahoo.
According to ComScore’s reports for August 2008, Yahoo had around 2.3 billion core searches compared to a staggering 2.6 billion expanded searches on YouTube along with various other Google properties. It must be noted that YouTube is a specialized site for search like others that include, Wikipedia, Facebook and the likes.
This shouldn’t be of surprise given the large number of users uploading a countless number of videos and the number of times each video is viewed. I guess it’s the Broadcast Yourself tag that YouTube carries; which makes it stand apart. The other reason is obviously the large amount of content it has to offer for search. Whatever the case be, it’s quite embarrassing how everything associated with Google s googling everything up!
