Knol, a free tool by Google, has added a new search toolkit. Knols are actually reliable articles about particular subjects which are written by people who have knowledge about those topics. The new toolkit allows you to process advanced queries.
Now a lot of Google Web options like phrase search, exact words, search, etc. can be utilized in Knol. Now you can search with specifications which includes title, subtitle, alternative titles, summary, author name, content, affiliation, recent Knols, review, etc.
Moreover, there are some options available for ordering the results. This means that the results can now be ordered either by their relevance, created date, last modified date or by a reverse sort. Also you can filter out the number of results to appear in a single page.
Some think that the advanced search doesn’t show much better results. According to Google Operating System:
The advanced search option should be a good way to discover knols related to a topic, but it fails to properly rank the knols. In a search for [Google Reader], the top result is a page copied from Google Reader’s help center that has a higher rating than the second result, which is more relevant. If you don’t use the advanced search, Knol shows less but better results.
Now this is interesting but it can be understood because the service is in its initial phases right now. The toolkit will certainly improve in the coming days.

Its cool….
