Due to much anticipation created by the release of a variety of phones recently (such as iPhone), a delay has setback the launch of Google’s Android phone.
Google’s Android phone being built by HTC is now going to be released by the end of this year – more hints point at the release heading till the first quarter of 2009.
According to a source at Global Equities Research, HTC is having structural problems to incorporate Google’s Android phone. Whereas, HTC has put forth a condition of guaranteed minimum revenue surety from Google.
This sparks anxiety for HTC that GPhone isn’t going to stand put in front of recent brands: iPhone, Blackberry, NOK, Windows Mobile and Symbian; these brands also caught attention of software developers – causing a further set back as Android is a Linux-based collection of mobile phone software, (including an OS and a browser, etc) and needed further development before its launch.
While software developers have their hands full developing for other brands, HTC is striving to grab attention to acquire a minimum revenue guarantee from Google for its Android phone.
All said and done, if Android wants to brush off the skepticism that has creeped up beforehand, it has to have a strong (read: extraordinary) marketing campaign when it finally launches.
