Google has turned to be an excellent service in terms of the search result it returns. This has increased their traffic tremendously. Sighting their traffic, Hitwise, the Internet analysis firm, predicted earlier this year that the company might release a virtual world. They proved right as Google launched Lively this Tuesday. This makes you think that whats next in Google’s pipeline?![]()
Some predictions made by Hitwise were that the company will be looking for something like ‘Google Autos’ or ‘Google Music’. According to Heather Hopkins of Hitwise:
We made our prediction based on analysis of Google.com’s clickstream traffic. Our thinking was that Google might want to fill natural gaps in its portfolio of offerings based on the interests of its users. We looked at which categories are receiving the most traffic from Google in which Google does not have its own property. Entertainment – Games and Health and Medical topped the list.
Lets have a look at the data on the table for the month of June 2008, which has enlarged from previous number of 15 categories to 20.
The stats show that only three of the top 20 categories of online sites, on which the Google traffic is sent, are not part of any in-house Google project.
Heather further added:
So what’s next? The data suggests Google Autos and Google Music? (I am not sure we’ll see Google Government just yet!)
As far as ‘Google Music’ is concerned, it can be worked out and may turn out popular but ‘Google Autos’ doesn’t seem to be Google’s piece of cake, but who knows. Lets keep our fingers crossed and see what they come up with in the coming days. Whatever they do, lets hope it proves worthy.
