Google: Yea, we violated the Apple iPhone SDK rules

Shoaib Hashmi

Google has admitted that the company has violated Apple’s iPhone SDK (Software Development Kit) rules while creating the latest Google Mobile App (voice search) for the iPhone. According to Google’s spokesman, Google Mobile does use some undocumented APIs. Under the terms of agreement, iPhone developers are allowed to use only those APIs which were published by Apple in its SDK. If the iPhone developers use undocumented APIs then their application code can break in the future as Apple’s software is updated. Though it is a risk, developers are using undocumented APIs to provide cool new features. If Apple decides to impose SDK terms then Google might have to write code again but I suppose that is not going to happen at least now.
