Google is more than “fairly liberal”… they are extremely far left… wall, maybe a little to the center of The Huffington Post and MoveOn.org… but not by much.

That’s why my first post, when I thought the site was actually affililated with Google, was about the Almighty Dollar being the primary reason since I know Google could care less about Catholics.. unless they click through GoogleAds.

Now that my further research revealed this is just some individual purporting to be affiliated with Google by using their name, I’m sure Google will shut it down soon… but it sure was an ingenious idea for getting tons of free media… darn, why didn’t I think of this.. lol.

I wonder how long it will take Google’s legal team to go after these guys. Let’s be honest, Google is a fairly liberal company who tries to embrace people of all walks of life so to have a site out there that uses their name and revolves around a single denomination seems like it might have some negative impacts.

Adding to my previous post, I just read the “About CatholicGoogle” page and this is a private website, not affiliated with Google, Inc., only powered by Google’s search engine.

I hope this isn’t one of Google’s elaborate hoaxes that they play every April Fool’s Day… it doesn’t look like it but who knows…. but it is looking more like a hoax from someone else… maybe with a vendetta against the Catholic faith.

Here’s a snip from the disclaimer…
CatholicGoogle is powered by Google using “safe search” technology, it produces results from all over the internet with more weighting to given to Catholic websites and eliminates the vast majority of unsavoury content, such as pornography. The site is not associated or affiliated with Google.com, we work closely with Google to help ensure that the adverts are not objectionable in nature, however, some of the results and adverts that are displayed may not be in line with Catholic doctrine and we do not endorse of any of the results or adverts displayed on Catholic Google.

A Whois search reveals this site is owned by a French entity with an email address directfromlourdes.net (Direct from Lourdes or Lord) so this may all be a big hoax.

Bolster isolation??? I don’t get that at all.

In a free world and free markets, it’s OK for people to advertise their products however they like… as long as it’s legal. This is obviously somthing that Google sees as a viable market in providing this service to Catholics. I’m sure they’ll also come up with specialized search sites for other religions and demographics as well. It’s all about the money!!!

I don’t see the point in this either: There are plenty of good portal sites and wikis for those who want quick searches. There is also the option of safe search on Google for those who don’t want to encounter porn. Seems to me that the resources for a Catholic Google could be better used elsewhere.
