The search is simpler with Google and faster too but that doesn’t satisfy people at Google who are always looking for ways to make it even better. Why the need for improvement? It is quite unpredictable and to get rid of this issue, Google is planning to change its homepage to quite some extent with the inclusion of a permanent side bar. This will be rolled out to a few users for tests with a side bar on the left and as one can predict it would help you narrow your search from everything to just images, news, etc. Now that is quite similar in functionality compared to the options at the top left, but then those appear to be way out of sight and aren’t good at the interface. If this comes out, we might be on the verge of seeing Google breaking away from its tradition of KISS.
