If you dislike Chrome but love its Tab Page and want to use it in Firefox then get your hands at the Google Toolbar 5 for Firefox. As we all know the tab page provides you a a quick link to the most recent pages you have visited/recently closed tabs (Though Firefox had been talking of launching a similar feature and we are waiting eagerly). You can do one additional thing with the toolbar that is remove thumbnails or disable the page entirely. However there are certain issues, like the browser slows down when you download the toolbar, though very seldom but enough that I put off the toolbar. Maybe my system has grudges against everything Google, give in your feedback if you install it.
