comScore, the online measuring site, has released the stats for the month of July 2008. The current figures are very interesting. The month of July saw almost 5 billion online video views, over 11.4 billion videos and a total of 558 million hours in the U.S. only.
Google sites again dominated the market and maintained the top spot in the U.S. with over 5 billion videos viewed (Mostly YouTube, 98%), making 44% of the total online video market. There is no site that seems to challenge the search engine giant’s sites. Fox Interactive Media, being the closest one contains only 3.9% of the total market share, so the huge difference is evident from these stats.
The third spot was gained by Microsoft with 2.5% shares followed by Yahoo with 2.4% of overall market. Following is the list of top 10 online video properties for the month of July.
