Google has recently launched a completely new version of the Blogger post editor to give an ease to all bloggers. The new tools are rolled out in the blogger’s draft and if you want to enjoy its functionality then its necessary to login through draft.blogger.com instead of a blogger URL (www.blogger.com). The updates and changes makes it worth to use as the new editor provides a higher amount of flexibility and feasibility to bloggers.
The new editor with a clearer toolbar has undergo major changes. One of the major uplift is,
an image icon that is now supporting better and improved image handling process. Bloggers can now upload several images at a time. The images will appear as the thumbnails and you can later on add them into your post. You can drag and drop your image wherever you like (between paragraphs, in the centre, left or right ). and the editor will maintained the link to a full size version of an image . You can even resize your image instantly with a single click.
It also supports a “live preview in a new window making it possible for a blogger to preview a post without leaving editor’s window. It is also offering a better HTML support that ultimately increase user’s compatibility.
Bloggers can even import and export blogs as XML files through an Import and Export feature . This feature will allow you to :
Merge two or more blogs into one.
Move individual posts from blog to blog.
Back up your blog to your own storage.
Move your blog somewhere else.
Google Blogger has also released a new Embedded Comment form feature. The comment’s settings has three options in it. You can use a traditional full page comments, pop up comments boxes or embedded comments. It has also introduced a Star rating feature that enables visitors to rate each and every post. Both of the features will not work if you have messed up or altered your Blog’s template.
One of the major drawback is, they have currently disabled the Autosave option. Blogger has to manually save his draft periodically. Apart from this issue, few more features are still missing from the new version. Some of them are:
Spellcheck
Video upload
Hindi transliteration
Bi-directional text controls
Toolbar for Edit HTML mode
FTP file upload
Enclosures
However, they are promising to add these features in the upcoming releases.
The new Google Blogger editor has really come up with hell lot of improvements. But it has to work more to beat some of its hard core competitors.
