Google receives pounding from ConsumerWatchDog for Privacy Issues in Gmail and Chrome

Google is now receiving some pounding from ConsumerWatchDog over certain aspects of some of the features in Gmail and Chrome, that according to the organization are a serious privacy concern. These features include:

  • Gmail’s auto-save features, which submits unsent drafts to Google’s servers
  • Chrome’s desktop shortcut feature, which removes the URL from your view
  • Google’s context-targeted ad-serving in Gmail
  • The inability of people sending email to Gmail users to opt-out of Google data storing
